interaction at the farm
Grundlers - guesthouse by the lake
Wörthsee / Bayern
The GRUNDLERS is a guesthouse, embedded in the scenery of the Starnberg five-lakes area, and lies directly at the shores of lake Wörth. The farm has a moving history – a typical farm with productive livestock – earning the living of the former family.
The farm was restructured 25 years ago in order to provide an additional income by renting some holiday apartments.
Daughter-in-law Christina took over the farm with her husband Paul a few years ago and they decided – despite all their rootedness to the soil and their love of nature – to pursue new and unconventional ways. Larger accommodation units were created, intentionally abandoning the cooking facilities in each apartment. The innovative approach provides a large common room on the ground floor – the so-called “Meet & Eat” – with a large kitchen unit. The creation of this very unique cooking facility comes along with an enormous increase in living quality of the accommodation.
Through this informal measure, a lively exchange and communication between the guests are created. The inhabitants meet just like in a large temporary shared flat in the kitchen, without getting in the way of the others while cooking.
The offer is topped off by the collaboration with the caterer, located in the house, who offers culinary evenings as well as convivial cooking events.
En.ar[tec]/totronic architecs from Bressanone are responsible for the alterations works and the new floor plan concept, Sternbach was in charge of the upholstery. In collaboration with the architects Ingrid Tosoni and Andreas Vallazza, the selection was refined and the fabric colours were harmonized.
